Twetiquette

I follow some of the funniest folks on Twitter. My Timeline is filled with all sorts of razzness, jokes and randomness. Twitter has been very interesting for me so far. I've learnt a few things since May 21st when I joined. Here are some of them:

1. Because I found your blog interesting doesn't mean you are interesting on Twitter: I follow some folks and they tweet something very random, and I think to myself hmmm maybe another time. Then 2 weeks later they tweet some other random crap... speaking of which, I need to unfollow this person and quit the whining.

2. I read some blogs and in my mind, I think this person and I are cool peoples = Error. I am finding that I enjoy this person's creative work. Our minds are not alike, I don't think I'll like this person in reality. I find this quite disappointing because I really thought we had some e- soul sister connection, but what do I know?

3. I have learned to not put my nose inside what doesn't concern me. Much like Blogville on steroids, folks already have their cliques, so if someone tweets something, it is generally expected that a member of this e-clique will respond. If you make the mistake of responding, you are labeled a "famzer". I earned this label within my first week, since I'm nosey. I didn't even know the joke was on me, or necessarily what or who Famzer was. I was busy searching for this famzer person. LOL. Thanks for enlightening a sister, Hermes.

4. Please do not respond or say "hi" to a twitter "big boy/girl o!: Ahhh! if you do, your rep don kpai be that. You are either a famzer or you are hustling for mentions.

5. If you no sabi wetin this clique people dey yarn and the amebor dey worry your blood pressure like it occassionally does mine, please DM one of them that hopefully won't become a meanie and forward your DM to his/her fellow meanies. This is called the "rolling-stone" or "Bee" mentality. God help you, let the person you DM'ed forward your DM to her fellow bees... again, your rep don kpai be dat.

6. Do not "@" anybody who doesn't follow you. If you do, God help you and "gbagaun". You haff become a nonentity ni yen o! They will sub you die.

7. Some funny slangs and acronyms like "Famz(ing\er)", "Set P", "OOMF", "RME", "YB"(Thanks to Original Mgebeke).

8. An increase in my "Nigerianess": I have been exposed to more up to date naija music, slangs, people, politics, jokes and opinions. I now listen in on a Thursday show that I ordinarily would have been oblivious of.

9. I am able to get postage alerts from some of the bloggers I follow.

In general, stay in your corner and don't cause katakata. If you stay in your corner, you will see enough foolery. What are some of your Twitter JJC memories?
